For beautiful, modern baby shower balloon decorations, take your inspiration from some of the baby clothes you find in today’s hippest shops. I grabbed a few pictures from the web, courtesy of their owners, and put them together to see how the combination works out. Kind of like creating a file of magazine clippings when you’re designing your dream home.
I found this baby shower cake with nice, large polka dots in coordinating colors and so simply, but elegantly, adorned with a small ceramic set of baby shoes. I, personally, like the combination of stark, contrasting and unexpected colors in the theme. I realize it might not be for everyone (where’s the pale yellow, pastel pink and baby blue, you say??). I know – but my sis, for example, would probably have much preferred this arrangement. She’s not a pastel kind of girl.
Looking elsewhere, I happened across this “Mod Mom” 3-tier Diaper Cake at a store online (along with some gorgeous alternatives) and is charmingly cool in pink and purple ribbons with yellow polka dots, black ribbon trim, some touches of olive green and a charm dangling from the middle tier of the diaper cake.
Now, for some balloon ideas. Taking a cue from both cakes (the one we’d eat and the one we wouldn’t – let’s not go into what I thought when I first heard the term “diaper cake”…that was awhile ago). How about balloon garland or a balloon arch in a swirl of white, pink, pale green and black (or some combination of those colors) balloons? If you do garland and attach it to the wall or ceiling, you won’t need helium and the balloons will last a little longer. To top it off, you could do a few with helium and float them around the perimeter of the room with small baby pacifiers at the end of the balloon ribbon.
I may be stuck on pink and black (shoot – I think I just did a post on a similar color combination!) but I think this idea is a bit different with the accent colors of yellow, pale olive green and touches of lavender.
Some black, pink, and white balloon garland, maybe a few balloon flowers or balloon rattles strategically placed and then this pink and silver heart garland in all the colors I had in mind – and it even has the polka dots!
I promise – I’ll leave the pink and black theme alone for a bit. I have a son’s birthday party coming up so it’s time to focus on some ideas for boys, too.
