If you have a party to plan for and are counting on the decorations to be outstanding, plan out your balloon decoration ideas to help make sure every detail is covered.
Even if you’re not a great artist (I can’t even draw a good stick figure), you can use this trick to assemble a solid party decoration plan.
Take a digital photo of your party area – your living room, patio, backyard or rented space. You may need to take several photos from different angles to capture the entire area.
Print the photos on regular copy paper – not photo paper.
Using a dark pencil, start sketching in some balloon decoration ideas – either those you already have in mind or those you’ve found in this blog. Ask yourself these questions in order to plan the location of your decorations:
- Where could I put a balloon arch?
- Can I use some balloon columns to fill in wall space or at entrance ways?
- Can I cluster some balloons in corners to tie the space together?
- What parts of the party area do I want to cover with balloons (posts, artwork, marks in the walls, etc.)?
- Which areas need to be kept clear for a buffet table, gifts or seating?
Once you’re done sketching, you can use crayons, colored pencils, or markers to see which color schemes look best. It might help to make a few copies of your sketch before playing with color in case you want to play with a few different color ideas.
If you enjoy digital editing photos, use your digital editing software for sketching your ideas onto the photos of your party area instead of manually drawing them. You can always use the “undo” button to erase your ideas and start over.
Either way, you now have a plan of your balloon decorating ideas from which you can make a list of the necessary decorating supplies.
